On March 24, a book launch and webinar were held, with 47 INTRAC members participating, to celebrate the publication of Leaving Care around the World: Policy, Practice, Research, and Youth Participation, edited by Tehila Refaeli and Varda Mann-Feder. Published by Oxford, the book includes chapters from 32 countries, alongside an overview of the history of INTRAC.
INTRAC came together in 2005 with the goal of pursuing knowledge to improve the lives of young people. A significant observation from the book is that conditions for youth leaving care are improving rapidly in some places in the Global South as well as the Global North, although not necessarily in the richest countries.
This webinar was planned to go beyond reporting on policy and practice. The objective was to provide an opportunity for participants to consider where innovation on behalf of care leavers is actually happening and how it is happening.
