INTRAC Executive is periodically asked to endorse care-leaving research projects. We don’t believe it is our place to do so. INTRAC is not a hierarchy, but a collective, thus Exco has no mandate to endorse (or conversely to not endorse) a project. However, we do recognise that in some cases, an endorsement from an international body may be useful, for example, to leverage scarce funding. To that end, we have prepared a generic endorsement that can be copied and pasted into a document and attached to your documentation. Here is the text:
The International Research Network on Transitions to Adulthood from Care (INTRAC) is a global research network comprising over 370 members from 48 countries across the globe. The purpose of INTRAC is to promote national and international research on the transition from care to adulthood (known variously as care-leaving or ageing out of care). INTRAC is thus in principle in support of all rigorous research that is suited and relevant to its context and that advances our understanding of care-leaving and support for care-leavers. INTRAC, being an international network, supports research that illuminates local, national, regional and global issues in leaving care, and is particularly supportive of cross-national studies and research that is co-produced with care-experienced people. We are in support also of research that speaks to policy and practice, to improve the lived experiences of young people transitioning out of care. (www.globalintrac.com)
